State Controller John Chiang and Meg Whitman, former eBay chief executive officer and Republican candidate for governor, will make presentations Sept. 24 at the Central California Venture Forum in Clovis.
Chiang's luncheon address will focus on "Can California Be Fixed?." Whitman's morning keynote will discuss "Entrepreneurship and Private Capital: Lessons for the Central Valley." Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin will give opening remakrs. The forum runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building in Clovis.
The event — meant to provide an assessment of the current economic climate and information about raising capital to create enterprise — is a collaboration of the Lyles Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at California State University, Fresno, the City of Clovis and the Central Valley Fund.
Panel discussions will cover "How to Raise Investment Capital," "The Central Valley Economy" and "Bulletproof Your Business," among others. Five new and early-stage businesses will also present their ideas to a panel of investors for a shot at presenting at the prestigious Keiretsu Forum in the Bay Area.
